All RPs go by certain formats, and this page will list and explain them.

Formats[]

RP Format[]

The RP format is the most common one of all. It is simple like a play script. It would feature the character's name and then dialogue or an action in asterisks. This format allows the usage of emotes along with the words. Emotes can also be used alone. This is generally the easiest and quickest format. Some prefer to bullet point it while some just leave it as is. For this example, bullet points will be used.

Example:

  • Pikachu: Pika pika! *waves*
  • Jigglypuff: *singing* Jig-guh-lee pufffffff!!
  • Pikachu: *cheers* Clap
  • Jigglypuff: *bows*

Story Format[]

This is probably the most common format. It is like a general novel you would read. It provides better description, allows for greater action and scene development and much more. However, emotes cannot be used with this format. LIke in novels, there are two types: First and Third person. Both formats are used interchangably in some RPs, while some select one over the other. First Person simply uses words like I, me, myself. Third person uses he/she/they, him/her/them etc etc. I don't think an example is needed for this.

Example:

"Pika pika!" Pikachu said to the Jigglypuff as he waved. In response to his greeting, Jigglypuff began to sing her signature song.

"Jig-guh-lee pufffffff!!"

Pikachu listened to Jigglypuff's singing and cheered her afterwards for her outstanding performance. She then bowed to Pikachu as a way of displaying her thanks.
